Marking assets for publish associates them with a specific publishing target or targets. Once marked, assets are published to these targets when your organization runs a publish.
Note: Assets must be checked in prior to marking for publish.
To check in an asset:
- Navigate to Assets > Assets Tree.
- Right-click an asset or folder in the Assets Tree.
- Select Check In
- Your asset is now checked in and ready to be marked for publish.
- To check in multiple items within your folder, you may also right-click on the folder that contains those assets to be checked in, and select Folder and Children.
- The Check-in Asset Folder and Children dialog box appears. Click Check in Asset Folder and Children.
To mark an asset for publish:
- Navigate to Assets > Assets Tree.
- Right-click the asset or folder in the Assets Tree.
Note: To select multiple, adjacent assets in the Assets Tree, drag your mouse across the assets that you want to select. Otherwise, use Ctrl+click to form a group of selected assets, no matter if they are adjacent or not, to be marked for publish. - Select Mark/Unmark for Publish. The Mark/Unmark assets for publish dialog displays.
Note: If the item is a folder, then Mark/Unmark Descendant Assets for Publish displays instead of Mark/Unmark for Publish. - Select the live checkbox in the Publishing Targets column to associate the asset with the publishing target for the live website. (Do not select staging, as this publishes to our staging area, and will not show up on your live site).
- Click OK.
You will then want to publish your asset(s) to the live website, in order for them to be view. Learn more on how to do that here.
⭐ Pro Tip: If you complete this process in this article PRIOR to publishing the page(s) your asset(s) is associated to, publishing the page will automatically publish the associated asset(s).
