PLEASE NOTE: You should be uploading assets to your designated folder for your unit/area. Any folders/assets created outside of your tree will be deleted. No exceptions.
❗Asset upload file size limits are as follows:
- IMAGES - 1MB* Maximum (Learn how to set up image size and resolution for your image in Photoshop)
- images at 72dpi and approximately 1920 pixels wide for landscape style images (or 1920 pixels high for portrait style images) tend to be optimal settings for image quality and file size
- see Image Component Sizes for some guidance on image dimensions based on where you may be using them
- DOCUMENTS - 2MB* Maximum (Learn how to optimize your PDFs)
- VIDEOS - 5MB Maximum (we HIGHLY recommend uploading/hosting your videos on external solutions like YouTube or Vimeo)
*These limits are subject to be reviewed and updated.
As Morgan State University employees, you have a license to download Adobe Creative Cloud and install Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Acrobat. Visit the DIT Service Catalog (Computing Services section) for the Software Library and instructions on how to install.
To upload an asset:
- Navigate to Assets by clicking Assets in the top utility bar.
- Select the folder in the Assets Tree where you want the asset to be stored (you will have to drill down in the assets tree/folder list until you see your area).
- Click the Create New Asset button. The asset upload area displays.
- If you are updating an asset with a file name that is already in use within the chosen upload directory, select the Update existing assets for conflicting names check box.
- Either drag assets from your system's file manager into the asset upload area, or click inside this space to browse for your asset.
- Click Upload.
Alternately, you can upload an asset this way:
- Right-click the folder you wish to upload the asset to and select New > Asset. The Create New Asset dialog opens.
- Either drag assets from your system's file manager into the asset upload area or click to browse for your asset.
In the Asset Name field, provide a file name. This field defaults to the name of the uploaded file.
PLEASE NOTE: Keep the file name as short as possible. Too long of a file name may result in your file not working on the web. DO NOT use any special characters (!, @, #, $, &, etc.) and DO NOT use spaces, but instead hyphens (-) or underscores(_) to provide separation between the words used.
Example:
ACCEPTABLE: This_DocName.pdf
NOT ACCEPTABLE: This Is the Name of My Document & I Like it!.pdfClick Create Asset. The asset now displays in the Assets Tree.
NOTE: This will not automatically place your asset(s) live on the website. To continue on to prepare your assets, view this article.
